Hafodyrynys 7 New Panteg 37

After last week's disappointing home defeat, it was essential for New Panteg to get their league campaign back on track. A visit to Hafodyrynys is always challenging, but Teg showed a ruthless mindset to take the game away from the Rams in a calculated and clinical first half. After just 10 minutes, great interplay from the outside backs saw fullback Bury cross for the opener. Despite a billowing wind making accuracy difficult, Tegs exceptional backline again split the home defence with more invention. Wingman Nattaphong made up for an earlier indiscretion to score wide out. Not to be outdone by his fellow back three colleagues, Gomez came off his blindside wing to enter open play, and increase the lead with another training ground play. Bury kicked what would be the only successful conversion on a very blustery day. Scrum half Edmunds was the recipient of some intelligent link play from second rower Bailey, whose great hands put him over for a walk in bonus point try.
Hafod certainly didn't give up the ghost, and their strong forward pack were competing admirably. A robust driving maul gave them the first score of the second period, and a glimmer of hope. However this ambition was soon extinguished as Teg emptied their powerful bench to take the game away from their hosts with 3 further scores. Replacement Sullivan hit a fantastic line and made great yardage before putting fellow substitute Heneghan over in the corner. Sullivan was the recipient of the next score, emerging from a driving lineout with the spoils. Heneghan added the final score, finishing off more immaculate handling with a powerful run and score.
Hooker Skuse was named Man of the Match due to his pinpoint throwing in, combined with an industrious contribution around the field.
