New Panteg entertained Tredegar on a bitterly cold afternoon looking to consolidate their position in the promotion places. In the corresponding fixture earlier in the season Panteg ground out a one point win, so a tough encounter was expected. The game kicked off a few minutes late as it was necessary to introduce some of the Tredegar players to their team mates but when the game got underway the visitors scored an early converted try. However the hosts soon found their form and scored at regular intervals with the front row at the fore. Hooker Warren was somewhat fortunate to be awarded a dubious touchdown but prop Walker left no-one in any doubt as he crashed over twice from powerful runs. The introduction of Reader on the wing resulted in him crossing for a brace as Tredegar tired and fellow wingman Allcock rounded off proceeding with a further score out wide. Tredegar fought to the finalwhistle and scored the game’s last score for some consolation but New Panteg will be happy to secure all five points.
Alex Walker was unanimously awarded the Man of Steel accolade for his tremendous tight play and his huge contribution with ball in hand, resulting in his two scores.
