Teg Boys pushed all the way by Forgeside

New Panteg were pushed all the way by Forgeside in this scrappy encounter.

The home team started the stronger and it wasn't long before they made Panteg pay with a well struck penalty from Morgan Parry, which closely followed by a converted try after a mix up in the Panteg defence.

Panteg then eventually got going when after good work by the forwards prop Matt Evans forced his way over with Alex Gwatkin adding the extras.

The scores remained the same until half time with both sides struggling to gain the upper hand.

Early in the second half an infingment in the red zone saw the Forgside  scrum half sin binned which allowed Gwatkin to add three points.

This was quickly cancelled out when the home team kicked another penalty, the match was turning into a real dog fight, but it was Panteg who scored next when scrum half Ethan Winstone broke blind from a scrum 10 metres out to claim the try.

But Forgside didn't lie down they forced their way back upfield and when Panteg infringed Parry was on hand to slot another penalty.

With four points seperating the two sides the last few minutes were going to be intense, but it was Panteg's outside half Alex Gwatkin who stepped up to the plate with a well struck drop goal from 40 metres which put the visitors 7 points clear. The final whistle came shortly after.

Final score Forgeside 14 New Panteg 21

The Panteg boys must be proud of themselves this season. Finishing fourth in the league after last year struggling to raise a team.

Coaches Daryl Carter , Gareth Davis and Rob Davis have managed to gel the boys together and the future looks good for next year.
