Chepstow 19 New Panteg 14

This game was an immense test of New Pantegs extended squad, due to a multitude of enforced changes. Only the wing positions were duplicated from the previous game, with all others showing some form of change in personnel.
Chepstow started brightly, and a powerful driving lineout put Teg on the back foot. A gap in the defensive line was finely exploited by their lively fly half, who scampered over for a converted score. Teg came back into the game with two well struck penalties from Bury, and were putting tremendous pressure on the hosts. This paid dividends as Matt Bowles benefited with Tegs only try of the afternoon. Bury missed the conversion but added a further penalty for a healthy 14 - 7 interval lead.
The second period proved dour, with numerous stoppages resulting in 15 minutes of added time. Penalties were in abundance, and bizarrely one being awarded against the visiting support for questioning a dubious decision. Chepstow upped their game to score two further tries and denied Teg any more notches on the scoreboard. The all changed front row of Woolfall, Tudgay and Jones played the full game and were colossal. Jones was given the nod as player of the match for his all action, nonstop display.
